Special features of flow in an annular jet impinging on a barrier

Abstract

The results of an experimental investigation of the flowfield between a nozzle and a flat wall exposed to normal annular-jet flow are presented. Emphasis is placed on an investigation of the stagnation flow region near the wall. The distributions of the mean and fluctuating flow parameters are measured using a PIV system. It is shown that, compared with a round jet, the fluctuation intensity in the annular jet increases, which can be one of the reasons for heat transfer enhancement at the frontal point.
