Comparison of two methods for extraction of enchytraeids

Abstract

A comparison was made of two methods for the extraction of enchytraeids, the O’Connor (1957) method and the Römbke (1995) method; the latter was originally proposed as a standard method for monitoring environmental pollution. The average number of enchytraeids extracted by the Römbke method was significantly greater. This simple and convenient method was shown to be as efficient as the traditional method when applied in both laboratory and field studies.
