Abstract

Here, we considered a mathematical model of the formation of a distal arterial pulse-wave signal in the blood vessels of the upper limbs. The formation of a distal arterial pulse wave is represented as a combination of forward and reverse pulse waves that propagate along the human arterial system. We propose a system of a formal analogy between the propagation of pulse waves along the human arterial system and that of electrical oscillations in electrical transmission lines with distributed parameters. The dependencies of the pulse-wave propagation along the human arterial system were obtained by solving one-dimensional Navier–Stokes equations for a few special cases.
