Abstract
We examine the behavior of an extra hole added to the ground state of an antiferromagnetically ordered CuO2 plane with account of the Cu-O and O-O hybridization. We show that spin flipping in the CuO2 plane will lead to separation of localized and free-hole states by the energy barrier E b∼0.05 eV, which can be manifested in various kinetic phenomena.
