Abstract
A decrease in the wavelength of the 5 D 0→7 F 0 luminescence line of a Eu3+ ion in a single crystal of the superionic conductor Na5Y(:Eu)Si4O12 is observed as a consequence of raising the temperature. The effect is interpreted as the result of a change in the distribution of mobile Na+ cations in the second coordination sphere of the luminescing rare-earth ion.
