Conclusion

The goal of this work is to aid in the failure analysis study of various small electrical and mechanical components manufactured at Allied-Signal in Kansas City. Most of the information obtained in these types of studies helps to develop finite-element models that clearly represent the actual parts. Unfortunately, many of these types of stress analyses are not attempted due to a lack of a smaller strain gage (less than 0.015 gage length). Hopefully, this work will aid in the development and manufacture of smaller strain gages for use in these types of analyses.
