The Reliability of a Two-Unit System with Two Different Interlinkings in Two Different Periods

Abstract

In this paper we consider two different models of a two-unit system, where the system operates under different conditions of working and interlinking between the units. In Model I, the system works for a period of time with the two units in series; then one unit is switched off leaving the other to continue alone. After a further period, the first unit is switched on again, and the cycle is repeated. In model II the first period consists of one unit working and the other standing by; in the second period both the units are working in series. These periods alternate repeatedly. The reliability of the system for each model is examined.
