Abstract
A methodology is described which can be used to assess the environmental impact of human activities. The approach is based on a purpose-built computer modelling language which may be used to trace the flows of resources generated by any process of interest. Models developed using this approach may be used by planners to appraise environmental effects of their decisions and to explore strategies for energy or other resource savings.
