Abstract
Where sets of similar transportation problems are solved independently a great deal of information is wasted. A routine which has been used successfully is described; it is for use in conjunction with the Ford and Fulkerson method for solving the transportation problem, and utilizes the information provided by the optimum solution to one problem to give a good initial solution to the later problems.
A similar routine could be easily developed for use with the Stepping Stone method.
