Abstract
MANY reports provide physiological evidence that monoaminergic (catecholaminergic and serotonergic) systems are involved in the control of the secretion of the hypothalamic hormones (releasing factors) at the level of the median eminence (ME) of the rat1–3. Dopaminergic and noradrenergic fibres have been shown in the median eminence by histofluorescence technique4–7. This technique fails to demonstrate the serotonin (5–HT) fluorophores because of their low yield and rapid fading8.
