Cellular Interactions in Mass Cultures of Human Diploid Fibroblasts

Abstract

Fibroblasts in mass cultures generate self-maintaining parallel arrays. In the presence of accumulated collagen, arrays migrate over one another to build meta-stable orthogonal multilayers. The cell partaking in these interactions is the fibroblast in the bipolar spindle form, which does not exhibit contact inhibition of movement.
