Abstract

A mechanism is proposed by which quarks could become bound to atomic systems of relatively low molecular weight such as oxygen or water. They may then undergo a cyclic process of reflexion from the Earth's surface, reaching heights of 50 km or more. The authors propose that such quarks could be detected by sampling the upper atmosphere from rockets or by taking samples from the ocean floor of the continental shelf.
