Fatty Acid Synthesis in Rabbit Thymus Preparations

Abstract

IN connexion with our earlier studies on the lipid metabolism in human white blood cells1–3, a study on the metabolism of acetate-1-14C and malonate-2-14C by rabbit thymus preparations was initiated, in order to investigate lipid synthesis in this gland. Information from such experiments does not only apply to the physiological role of the thymus connected with lymphocyte production, but also, eventually, to other functions of this gland4.
