Conductivity induced by Radiation in Polycrystalline Cadmium Sulphide and Polyethylene

Abstract

WHEN ionizing radiation falls on insulating or semiconducting solids, there is an increase in electrical conductivity resulting from the production of electron-hole pairs. If the source of ionizing radiation is removed, the conductivity decreases at a rate dependent upon the release of electrons from traps into the conduction band.
