Abstract
IN human semen large amounts of a phosphatase with acid pH optimum originating from the prostate has been demonstrated by Kutscher and Wolbergs1. The phosphatase activity of semen in optimal conditions amounts to several thousand times the activity of the alkaline phosphatase in serum. No explanation as to the function of this enzyme has so far been advanced.
