Abstract

KAUFMANN1 and Neuhaus2,3 indicated the likelihood of crossing-over between X- and Y-chromosomes in females of Drosophila melanogaster. They explained the frequent attachment of the long arm of the Y-chromosome to the proximal end of the X-chromosome as described by Stern4, as a result of crossing-over in males between the X- and the short arm of the Y-chromosome.
