Fracture of Plates with an Inclined Edge Crack under Tension

Abstract

The paper discusses experimental results on tension fracture of D16AT plates with an inclined crack with and without local buckling. The influence of crack geometry (initial length and crack angle) on fracture kinetics and strength of the plates is studied. Also the effect of local buckling on the fracture characteristics is evaluated
