Advancement of Heat Flow Diagrams of Turbine Units

Power Technology and Engineering Aims and scope

Abstract

It is shown that the optimum choice of the heat flow diagram can be made in the stage of designing the boiler and the turbine due to the appearance of appropriate software for computing heat flows of the power unit as a whole. The computations make it possible to estimate the effect of the measures for improving the individual components of the flow diagram on the final efficiency of the unit. Such measures include the increase in the live steam parameters, the use of second reheat, advancement of the regeneration system by installing mixing heaters, possible elimination of the deaerator, reduction of pressure losses in the extraction pipelines, improvement of the operation of condensers, etc. These measures can raise the efficiency of the unit by 1.5 – 2% relative to the existing values. The accuracy of the computation can be raised further by taking into account the effect of the entropy due to mixing flows with different temperatures.
