Photoconductivity of Compositions Based on Polystyrene in the Near IR Region of the Spectrum

Theoretical and Experimental Chemistry Aims and scope

Abstract

The photoconductivity characteristics of films of polymeric compositions based on polystyrene and containing substituted tetrathiafulvalenes (electron donors 2,4,5,7-tetranitro-9-fluorenone, electron acceptors cationic and neutral polymethine dyes) were studied in the spectral region from 400 to 1000 nm. It was established that on account of the low ionization potential the selected electron donors create conditions for the photogeneration of charge carriers in the near IR region. It was shown that the photoconductivity in the absorption region of the dye increases with substitution of the ionic dye by a neutral dye.
