Abstract
The present paper considers scattering of high-energy nucleons by nuclei based on the diffraction approach that takes into account the effects of multiple scattering. The optical potential is used to describe multiple scattering in the inhomogeneous nuclear matter. A formula for the scattering wave intensity is derived in the heavy nucleus approximation. The results obtained are used to calculate the deflection angle of a charged particle multiply scattered by nucleons of a nucleus.
