Abstract
In the present paper, a model of the cooperative kinetics of inhibition of Escherichia coli cell growth by Li+ ions is developed and experimentally tested. The interaction of various molecular targets for Li+ – transport proteins – in the biomass synthesis provides the basis for the model. An expression that describes the dependence of the specific cell growth rate on the Li+ ion concentration in the medium is derived and its adequacy is experimentally confirmed.
