Kinked Cracks and Richard Fracture Criterion

Abstract

Mixed-mode stress intensity factors for kink cracks in front of a pre-existing crack were computed. It can be demonstrated that the empirical criterion by Richard is an excellent interpolation relation for the kink crack problem.
