Abstract
An acoustooptical microwave deflector is described. Metal interdigital electrodes are used for the surface excitation of ultrasound in the acoustooptical guide of the deflector. At the modulated light wavelength of 0.63 μm, the diffraction efficiency of the acoustooptical deflector within the working frequency range of 1500 to 2000 MHz is ∼5%/W; the frequency resolution is 1 MHz.
