Abstract
Results of metallographic, electron microscopic, and diffractometric studies of the surface layer of normalized and quenched medium-carbon steel hardened by electromechanical treatment are presented. Some special features of formation of high-strength structures in the material in the range of the high-power effect and in the adjoining near-surface layers are considered.
