Abstract

The kinetics of damage accumulation in TiN coatings under various loading conditions has been investigated using spectral parameters of isolated acoustic emission pulses and their integral ow characteristics. By separating clusters plotted in the coordinates “energy–median frequency,” we have identified two types of signals corresponding to specific mechanisms of the coating fracture. Basing on distributions of such signals generated in the process of deformation, features of fractured coatings have been characterized.
