Abstract
An experimental apparatus for measuring the kinetics of reactions between metals and gases using the thermogravimetric method at temperatures of 1300–2000 K is described. The high temperatures of the studies are reached due to the use of induction heating of samples. An increase in the sample mass is continuously measured by a helical spring balance with an error of 1 mg. The sample temperature is monitored by an optical monochromatic pyrometer using the blackbody model. The results of the study of the kinetics of the zirconium oxidation reaction in an air–argon mixture at temperatures of 1300–1520 K are presented.
