Abstract
Investigation has been made of the pelletising properties of ash from the combustion of three Victorian brown coals. The Mössbauer spectra showed that the pozzolanic reaction of the calcium aluminoferrite to form ferrihydrite and hydrogarnet was the principal determinant of the pellet strength and ash without this phase did not form strong pellets.
