Abstract
The interdiffusion is analyzed in a large number of glasses treated with various solutions and melts under different conditions. It is demonstrated that the effective interdiffusion coefficient of ions is the geometric mean of individual diffusion coefficients of ions. The individual diffusion coefficients are calculated by extra-polating the concentration dependences of the reciprocal of the interdiffusion coefficient, which is determined according to the Matano–Boltzmann technique.
