Abstract
Results of geomagnetic measurements conducted aboard a stratospheric balloon are described. The measurements were conducted at altitudes of 20–40 km with a gradiometer whose 6-km measuring base is aligned with a vertical line, i.e., with the direction of the gravity force. It is shown that such an instrument keeps the position of the measuring base in both warm and cold seasons, which are characterized by different parameters of the air flow carrying the balloon. A special design of the rope magazine is implemented.
