Abstract
Composite piezoelectric ceramics with high mechanical performance were proposed and investigated in the PZT-SrBi2Ta2O9 system. Significantly enhanced fracture toughness, reaching 2.1 MPa m1/2, was achieved in these composite piezoelectric ceramics together with some interesting variations in electric characteristics, especially a dramatic increase in the dielectric constant at around 3 mol % SrBi2Ta2O9.
