Abstract
What is a home area network and why should we want one? This paper sets out to describe both the developments that have led to the need for a ‘home area network’ within the digital home, and what is meant by a ‘home area network’ and its many variants. It discusses some of the benefits and uses for the home area network and identifies some of the key players in this field.
