Electric Strength of Secondary-Emission Atomic Batteries

  • Published:
Atomic Energy Aims and scope

Abstract

Electric strength of multilayer atomic batteries operating on secondary electrons is examined. Analytical expressions are obtained for the breakdown voltage. It is shown that even when the diodes are connected in parallel the total voltage of all diodes determines breakdown.

It is noted that the heat release, which is not associated directly with electrical processes, in the battery substantially decreases the breakdown voltage.
