The Checking of Horizontal Cylindrical Steel Storage Tanks

  • Published:
Measurement Techniques Aims and scope

Abstract

The deformation of the cross sections of the compartments of horizontal cylindrical storage tanks, which occurs during manufacture and when they are loaded during use, is analyzed. Volumetric and geometric methods of checking storage tanks are also analyzed. Recommendations are made on choosing the function for describing the close-to-circular cylindrical shape of storage-tank compartments and on the use of volumetric and geometric methods of checking horizontal cylindrical steel storage tanks.
