International Applied Mechanics Aims and scope

Abstract

In the paper, primary attention is drawn to the determination of three-axial stresses. The basic relations for isotropic and quasiisotropic materials such as metals and alloys are derived, the measurement procedures are described, the accuracy of the method proposed is analyzed, and how this method is applied to the nondestructive determination of residual stresses arising in structural elements due to electrical welding is considered. This article is a complete report read at the ICTAM 2000 (Chicago, USA). An abstract was included in the ICTAM-2000 Abstract Book
