On the Relationship between Residual Stresses and Structural Characteristics of Amorphous Alloys

  • Published:
Materials Science Aims and scope

Abstract

By using the results of electron-microscopic and magneto-optical examinations, we study the inhomogeneous character of the stress distribution in amorphous materials and determine the mean values of stresses for alloys of various compositions and for various methods of their production. We have established that residual stresses can change not only in value but also in sign, depending on the methods of the formation of alloys, their composition, and annealing temperature.
