Abstract

A new series of CoL4(N3)2 complexes (L = 4-Et, 4-PhCO and 3-hydroxypyridine) has been prepared and characterized and their i.r. and electronic spectra is reported and discussed. The structure of Co(4-benzoylpyridine)4(N3)2, as determined by X-ray crystallography, consists of discrete monomers molecules with a trans-six-coordinated cobalt(II) environment. The terminal azides are almost linear and asymmetric within the experimental error.
