Abstract
Based on the modal solution of one dimensionally periodic structure with piecewise uniform dielectric constant distribution, characteristic solutions for two dimensionally Dielectric Waveguide Array (DWA) are rigorously formulated. By satisfying periodic boundary conditions in the interfaces inside a unit cell, semi-closed-form dispersion relation for DWA can be established. Numerical results are presented and compared with a previous method. A class of guidance and radiation problems can be solved with much more simplicity and accuracy.
