The researchers recognize that our subjectivities, training, experiences, and interests influence our investigations. Therefore, to ensure the credibility of this study, we want to make our positionality as researchers transparent [67, 68]. We identify as STEM education advocates from white ethnic backgrounds, three female and one male. Three of us are first-generation college students and we all have graduate education in a variety of fields including biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering, business, finance, marketing, technology management, organizational leadership, and learning and development. Two of us have experience teaching undergraduate and graduate engineering courses. We occupy a wide range of career stages, from a PhD candidate to an early-career researcher and two tech industry leaders.
