Abstract

The interplay between technological and intellectual resources from within and outside business firms can shape their level of competitiveness. This is militated by contemporary challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, insecurity, demonetization and cashless policy, illiteracy and lack of green economic environment in Nigeria which is the most populous country in Africa. The study explored the mediating role of information technology outsourcing on the relationship between information technology infrastructure, knowledge management and firm competitiveness among business firms in Nigeria. The extant literature review portrayed the theoretical and practical significance of the study variables underpinned by the Resource Base View (RBV) theory. Results from 227 respondents revealed a partial mediation of IT outsourcing between IT infrastructure and firms’ competitiveness and also a full mediation of IT outsourcing between knowledge management and firms’ competitiveness among the firms. The implications, limitations, conclusions and futuristic questions from the findings of this study were further discussed.
