Slurry-Based Fabrication of Spherical Structures with Zirconium Dioxide and TRIP Steel

Interceram - International Ceramic Review

Abstract: Solid and hollow spheres are an important component for lightweight structures. Manufacturing is currently carried out using different processes. This work shows the development of a process route that enables solid and hollow spheres with just one process step at room temperature, which are predominantly monomodally distributed. They can be produced with powder metallurgy and slip-based processes with the aid of alginate gelation from partially stabilized zirconium dioxide and TRIP steel.
