Abstract

Newsround was once a regular feature in the Canadian Journal of Science, Mathematics and Technology Education. In this article, I approach the idea of Newsround as an act of repetition (Kierkegaard, 1843/1983) where I “remember forward” the origins and role of Newsround. Rather than dwell on this history, I engage in a repetition that demonstrates, through the use of examples written in the format of a Newsround, the value of Newsround for fostering a sense of community among those in the fields of science, mathematics and technology education.

Newsround / Nouvelles Brèves était autrefois une section régulière de la Revue canadienne de l'enseignement des sciences, des mathématiques et de la technologie. Dans cet article, j'aborde l'idée de Newsround / Nouvelles Brèves comme un acte de reprise (Kierkegaard, 1843/1983) où je « me ressouviens en avant » des origines et du rôle de Newsround / Nouvelles Brèves. Plutôt que de m'attarder sur cette histoire, je me livre à une reprise qui démontre, à l'aide d'exemples écrits sous la forme d'un Newsround / Nouvelles Brèves, la valeur de Newsround / Nouvelles Brèves pour susciter un sentiment de communauté parmi ceux qui travaillent dans les domaines de l'enseignement des sciences, des mathématiques et de la technologie.
