Vroegtijdig herkennen van palliatieve patiënten

Een literatuurstudie

Samenvatting

De vroegtijdige herkenning van palliatieve patiënten is een vrij nieuw gegeven in de Vlaamse huisartsenpraktijken. Momenteel wordt in Vlaanderen vooral de ‘verrassingsvraag’ gebruikt: ‘Zou ik als zorgverlener verbaasd zijn dat de patiënt in kwestie binnen een jaar overlijdt?’

Deze literatuurstudie had als doel te onderzoeken of deze verrassingsvraag of andere klinische instrumenten inderdaad helpen om meer patiënten toegang te geven tot adequate palliatieve zorg. Via het PICO-model werd een literatuurstudie uitgevoerd in Medline. Deze leverde weinig artikels op met slechts een beperkte relevantie. Voor de hypothese dat vroegtijdige herkenning van palliatieve patiënten tot betere resultaten in de zorg leidt, was er beperkte evidentie.
