Welcome to the first issue of Medical Science Educator in 2016. The issue features a large number of manuscripts reporting on medical education, which I hope will be of interest to you. For the year 2016, the Editorial Board announced two special journal sections dedicated to the topic of “Competencies, Milestones, and Entrustable Professional Activities.” In these sections, the journal will explore the way competencies and EPA’s are being used in curricula in institutions around the world. I am very happy we received 25 submissions on this topic which are under review as we speak. I look forward to publishing several of those clustered together into a special section in the issues 26(3) and 26(4).

Once again, I invite educators from medical, nursing, dental, and veterinary schools to share their experiences in health science education with us. The goal of Medical Science Educator is to publish quality papers from an international authorship that are of interest to all who teach the sciences in healthcare. I therefore hope you will enjoy this issue and that you will continue supporting Medical Science Educator both as a reader and as an author of your own scholarly work for the benefit of our work and the work of others!
