Abstract
Objective
To analyse the impact on the Spanish National Health Service (NHS) Budget when using Dysport® vs. Botox® and Xeomin® in all approved indications, shared by three drugs and in two different scenarios.
Methods
Date of preparation of the study: January 2012. A budget impact analysis was performed based on three-year time horizon prevalence data (2012–2014) in two scenarios: Current scenario, considering the market share for future years, estimated by means of linear regression on data from IMS Health Database and the alternative scenario simulating the impact associated with Dysport® prescription increase.
Results
In the alternative scenario, estimated savings associated with the associated with Dysport® prescription increase for all indications during the study period amount to €788,007 for 2012, €1,117,472 for 2013, and €1,448,473 for 2014. The cumulative savings for the period 2012–2014 is estimated at €3,353,951.
Conclusions
Dysport® prescription increase may generate savings up to 8.000.000 €/year for the Spanish Health System. Taking into account the disease-depending annual cost and predicted doses based on the Summary of Product Characteristics (SmPC) for such toxins, Dysport® treatment cost could be 9 %–74 % lower than other alternative treatments.
