SADI (Single-Anastomosis Duodeno-Ileal Bypass): Current Evidence

Abstract

Purpose of Review

Single-anastomosis duodeno-ileal bypass was first described in 2007 as a simplified version of the biliopancreatic diversion with duodenal switch. The aim of the following study is to describe the characteristics of this bariatric technique including its results and complications, based on an extensive review of the literature.

Recent Findings

SADI has achieved satisfactory short- and long-term results for the treatment of both morbid obesity and its metabolic comorbidities. Despite being reported as postoperative long-term complications and nutritional deficiencies, these are tolerable and comparable to BPD-DS.

Summary

SADI is a safe and effective bariatric procedure that offers excellent weight loss and metabolic outcomes as a malabsorptive technique, with acceptable side effects when compared to other bariatric techniques.
