The KLI Institute and Springer deeply regret the loss of the editor-in-chief of Biological Theory, Werner Callebaut. At the same time, to help ensure the continuity of the journal, it is our pleasure to announce that Stuart Newman has agreed to serve as the new editor-in-chief. Stuart is a theoretical and developmental biologist with long-term interests in the philosophy of biology, linguistics, and the social and cultural implications of biological research. He has served on the editorial board of Biological Theory since the journal’s founding. In the next issue’s editorial, Stuart will present his views on the future of the journal. Also, with this issue we welcome Isabella Sarto-Jackson to the board of associate editors. Isabella is a molecular biologist and theoretician who has already done a good deal of work for the journal in the past.
