Abstract

The use of point of care ultrasonography to visualize the anatomy and function of the body in real-time in order to assist with establishing a diagnosis and management plan has revolutionized the care of critically ill patients. This article serves as an introduction to the series and uses a case-based approach to provide a brief overview of the applications of point-of-care ultrasonography in a patient with cardiopulmonary failure.
