Abstract

Cyclic behavior of reinforced concrete beam–column subassemblies incorporating basalt fibers has never been studied. This paper describes the experimental results of RCC beam–column subassemblies incorporating steel fiber and basalt fiber. Volume fractions of the fibers used in this study was 1, and 2%. Test specimens were subjected to reversible cyclic loading. Test results were evaluated with respect to crack patterns, hysteretic behavior, ductility, stiffness degradation, and energy dissipation capacity. It was observed that peak load, ductility, and energy dissipation capacity of beam–column joint incorporating basalt fibers were less compared to specimens with steel fibers at all volume fractions.
