Abstract

This article comments on aspects of functional overlapping of biosecurity, biosafety, bioterrorism, microbial forensics, plant pathology and education in a changing world showing the impact of increasing international trading, globalization and anthropogenic interventions. This commentary also introduces current research approaches such as, rapid collection devices, massive parallel systems and helicase dependent amplification applied to problems in biosecurity and microbial forensics.
