Fluorescence behaviors of metal complexes/PVC composites

Abstract

16 kinds of metal complexes were synthesized using ZnCl2, AlCl3, BiCl3, EuCl3, and ligands of 1,10-phenanthroline (phen), salicylic acid (Hsal) and 8-hydroxyquinoline (Oxin). Then metal complexes/polyvinyl chloride (PVC) composite thin films were produced using melt blending method with metal complexes and PVC resin as raw materials. The optimal addition ratio was obtained by changing the dosage of metal complexes. Fluorescence excitation and emission spectrum of metal complexes and the produced thin films were also investigated by thermogravimetric analysis (TG), fluorescence spectrum, transmissivity and haze test and tensile test. All the complexes show luminescent emissions in the solid phase.
